Privacy Policy

The short version.

Scene Finder has no accounts and no adverts. It does not ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, or location, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. Nothing about you is sold or shared for advertising.

What the app does

You paste a video link and describe a moment you are looking for. The app reads that video's publicly available subtitles and uses an AI service to find the parts matching your description.

What is processed, and where it goes

To answer a search, the following leaves your device:

Anthropic processes this text to generate the answer and, under its commercial API terms, does not use it to train its models. See Anthropic's privacy policy and Render's privacy policy.

Subtitle requests are routed through a proxy provider (Webshare) because YouTube blocks requests coming directly from data centres. The proxy carries only the request for the public subtitle file — it receives nothing about you.

Video playback

Results play inside YouTube's own embedded player. When a video plays, YouTube receives the request directly from your device and may set cookies or collect data under Google's privacy policy, exactly as if you had opened the video on YouTube. We do not control that and receive none of it.

What is stored

On your device: the access code you type, saved in your browser's local storage so you are not asked for it every time. Also a copy of the app's own files (icons and page layout) so it opens quickly. Clearing the app's or browser's storage removes both.
On our server: subtitles of recently searched videos are held temporarily in memory to make repeat searches faster, and are lost whenever the server restarts. There is no database, and no record of who searched for what.

What we do not do

No user accounts, sign-ups, or passwords
No advertising, ad networks, or advertising identifiers
No analytics or tracking software
No selling or sharing of data with data brokers
No access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or files

Children

Scene Finder is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Because the app holds no account and no profile about you, there is no personal data to request or delete. To remove everything the app has placed on your device, uninstall it or clear its storage. If you have a question about data, contact us below.

If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated and the new version will appear on this page.
